No Security, no bodyguards: 2baba shows up at Lagos airport without esccorts

There’s a reason why the 41-year-old pop artiste is considered one of the most humble Nigerian celebs of all time. Considering how famous and wealthy he is, plus a scary history of robbery attacks that he had experienced in the past, one would expect that 2baba appears everywhere with big-bad bodyguards or at least two or three police escorts.

But this wasn’t the case on the night of Tuesday, May 16, 2017 when 2baba was spotted at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed airport rolling solo, all by himself. He was even trying to hide behind a face cap!

Surely someone spotted him and shared these photos.
He was seen greeting young fans on his way to the departure lounge headed out of the country.

Photos: 258 Nigerians deported from Libya

258 Nigerians comprising of 220 males, 18 females and 20 children and infants, were deported from Libya last night May 16th. They were received at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport by the South West Zonal office of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants & Internally Displaced Persons.

One of the deportees Akhere Ken who is from Edo State, told newsmen that he had been in detention for over a year in Libya. Ken said he was arrested on board a boat while trying to cross the Mediterranean sea to Italy. He stated that he was locked up with 1500 inmates in a cell meant for only 20 inmates and that some of the inmates started dying due to suffocation.

“As one inmate dies, more Nigerians are brought and squeezed into the room. Any inmate with medical condition is not given even common paracetamol. We watch helplessly as our friends die before our very eyes,” Ken said 1268 Nigerians have been deported to Nigeria since December 2016.

Amsterdam mayor opens brothel for sex workers to improve working conditions

Amsterdam mayor, Eberhard van der Laan has opened a new brothel run by sex workers in the city's red light district to improve working conditions.

According to the city officials, the four buildings brothel dubbed the 'Municipal brothel' is part of a long-standing plan by sex workers and city officials to improve working conditions for sex workers and rid the country's sex industry of organized crime, allowing sex workers to work independently without having to seed their earnings to unscrupulous pimps.

The Dutch hoped that by improving the working conditions for the sex workers it would help in creating a clean sex industry, in which they could earn money without having to pay pimps.

Prostitution in Netherlands has been made legal since 2000, as far as the owners of sex-selling establishments have their licenses they are free to run a brothel for sex workers in any state of the country.

Photo: Fake 'spy' police officer arrested in Lagos State

The Lagos State Police Command through the operatives of the X-squad unit arrested one Alex Agbo that has been parading himself as a 'spy' police officer.

Mr. Agbo who was paraded this morning at the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos by Dolapo Badmus, the Zonal PPRO in charge of Lagos and Ogun State was arrested on Friday, May 12,  in the police uniform discharging illegal duties in Lagos.
The Zonal PPRO told LIB that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect who has all police gadget, including police uniform and others is not who he claims to be.

According to her, a spy police officer is not supposed to be inpolice uniform carrying out confidential duty.

LIB had a chat with the suspected fake 'spy' police officer and father of two, who proudly said:

'I'm proud to be a spy police officer. I was trained at the police college, Ikeja in 2003. I was attached to a company at Ikeja, Studio Grand Solution but they have returned me back. I was supposed to report to the state command to assign me to a new company before my arrest.

Investigation is still ongoing.

Photos: Two fake Naval officers arrested in Lagos State

Operatives of the X-squad unit of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two fake Naval officers and their accomplice, a tailor who makes their fake uniform.The suspects, identified as Chukwueke Kingsley 26, Chidi Ibrahim 25 and Alaba Akanni 20 were paraded this morning at the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos by Dolapo Badmus, the Zonal PPRO in charge of Lagos and Ogun State.
According to her, the prime suspects Chukwueke Kingsley and Chidi Ibrahim were arrested at about 10: 30 pm on Friday, May 5, 2017, while robbing a civilian of his car and valuables at Ijora Bridge.

She told LIB that on the day of the incident, the suspects drove their bike to overtake the victim's car in traffic, ordered him to park at the roadside where they began to collect his belongings.
In the process of the robbery, the PPRO said the officers of the X-squad unit who were on patrol saw the situation and arrested them on the spot.
On the case of the tailor who helps them in making fake uniforms, she said further investigation led to his arrest.

During the operation, the operatives of the X-squad unit recovered a Toyota Corolla 2005, N12, 500, Naval uniform, Camouflage bag/shirt/cap and two singlets.
LIB had a chat with the ringleader, Chukwueke Kingsley, who is an Okada rider from Imo State. When asked where he got the Naval uniforms from, he said:

'I bought the material at Badagry and made the uniform just in case Navy get to accept me because I love Navy job and I have been applying since 2006 for Navy, Army and Police.'

Nigerian couple drug and rapes friend’s wife because they owed her husband N1.2m

Here’s an update on the couple who drugged their family friend, raped her.. and then shared the video on Social Media.
The suspects, Obinna and Chinyere Arthur have been arrested and charged before a Lagos Magistrates’ court for the brutal act.
Speaking to PM Express, it was gathered that Obinna, who hails from Ogidi, Anambra State admitted his crime in a confessional Statement to the police. He said that he did so as a revenge over the business transaction between him and the victim’s husband, Kenneth, which later turned sour.

According to the father of two kids, he collected the sum of N1.2 million from the victim’s husband and when he was unable to pay, he then planned to blackmail Kenneth by sexually assault his wife so he could forget the money.
The victim of the rape and mother of four told P.M.EXPRESS what transpired between her and the couple.

She narrated that the couple relocated to Lagos from Onitsha, Anambra State last year and moved into their compound and they later became family friend.
She said her husband loaned the suspect the money for importation of clothes and when her husband started demanding the money from him, he then planned to blackmail the family.
The woman said because they were family friends, when Obinna put a call to her husband to send her to the popular hotel in Egbeda, Alimosho area of Lagos to collect the money, she however did not suspect any foul play.

She said when she got to the hotel and she was offered a drink which she drank and thereafter became unconscious, she was taken to a room where she was stripped naked, raped by Obinna while his wife used her phone to record the act and then posted it on the social media.
The couple, who reside at Ogundipe Street in Santos Layout in Akowonjo, Lagos, lured the victim to Greenland Hotel in Egbeda where she was sexually violated.

At the Ejigbo Magistrates court where they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail.
The matter was adjourned till 15 May 2017.

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all (1 Timothy 4:15).

 I n our previous study, we alluded to the fact that God commanded His prophets to write the Word for the purpose of witness and evidence. But there was something more—a better purpose for which He wanted the Word written: It was for meditation. Having the Word in written form created images in their minds, far better than what anyone could tell them. They could read it repeatedly, and communicate the same truths, without having to alter any word or sentence. When you deliver information by oral tradition, there’re bound to be changes as it moves from one generation to another; but not when it’s written. When it’s written, the substance or core of the message is retained. That’s how come today you can read, recite, and meditate on the Word in its originality. Moreover, what you meditate upon feeds your spirit, and literally transforms you. That’s why God wrote the Law for Moses on tablets of stone. Even when the tablets got broken, God commanded Him to get another set, and he did, and gave it to the children of Israel, commanding them to meditate on it. He knew that if they meditated on it long enough, it would produce results and cause them to live and act accordingly. There’re Christians who have a hard time following God’s Word and His ways of doing things. It’s because they don’t spend time to meditate on the Scriptures. If you’d meditate on God’s Word, you wouldn’t need to make an The Written Word Is For Meditation WEDNESDAY 17 effort to act in line with it. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do….” Notice it doesn’t say, “…and thou mayest observe”; it’s not another commandment. It says, “so you may observe to do.” Meditation on God’s Word will compel your actions to be in sync with His message. Success and prosperity result from meditating on the Word.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your Word that dwells richly in my heart; its power is activated for transformation in my life today, as I study and meditate thereon. I’m victorious and flourishing, having significant attainments, and persistent productivity in all that I do, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Photo: Police arrest Fulani herdsmen behind recent killings in Benue State

The Benue State Police Command has arrested eight Fulani herdsmen suspected to be culpable in the recent attacks in Logo Local Government Area of the state, in which eight lives were lost. The suspects are:

i. Saidu Umar 33yrs
ii. Bala Saleh 28yrs
iii. Ibrahim Kologi 23yrs
iv. Alhaji Shuaibu 25yrs
v. Muhammad Bello 25yrs
vi. Alhaji Muhammad 30yrs
vii. Adamu Lalo 29yrs
viii. Umaru Alhaji 23yrs
A statement signed by the Command's spokesperson, ASC Moses Joel Yamu said they received reports of attack on Akaa village in Logo LGA of the State by suspected herdsmen on May 07, 2017 at about 1615hrs. On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, led patrol teams to the area and found three corpses identified as ; Onguga Use 70yrs, Tersoo Ihom 35yrs and Iorlumun Ityokaa 62yrs killed by the suspected herdsmen who were said to have passed through the village.
The patrol teams while on the trail of the assailants, recovered five (5) more yet to be identified corpses in another village, bringing the casualty figure to eight (8) deaths. Corpses​ have been deposited in the morgue at General Hospital ,Ugba.
The Commissioner of Police, CP. Bashir Makama Psc had ordered the Gboko Area Commander to relocate to Logo, to ensure the culprits are brought to book and normalcy restored to the area.

The suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's costume to be donated to Hard Rock collection this month

Late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s costume will take a fitting place among other world music greats on the renowned Hardrock Cafe Music Me Memorabilia Collection.

His children, Yeni, Femi and Seun Kuti will hand over costumes worn by Fela, including pieces of clothing and shoes to representatives of Hard Rock International in Lagos.


The hand over will coincide with the 20th anniversary of Fela’s death on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Hardrock Café Lagos. The ceremony will also feature a performance by Femi Kuti with his Positive Force band and Seun Kuti with his Egypt 80 band hit the stage for a pulsating power-packed night of Afrobeat music.

True love! Lady recalls how her husband stayed by her side when she fell seriously ill shortly after they met

Lola Ekugo and her husband Kelechi, recently celebrated their 6th year anniversary. She took to her Instagram page to narrate how he stayed with her even when she fell seriously ill shortly after they met, especially when she didn't even want to look at herself. She wrote;

Not long after I met this man right here 11 years ago while living in London. I fell very sick, I was losing weight drastically. I kept going to the UK doctors and they couldn't diagnose me for months. Court orders CBN to account for cash and properties recovered from Cecilia Ibru

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to give an account of the total cash and value of properties recovered from the former Managing Director of Oceanic Bank Cecilia Ibru.

The court gave the order at the hearing of an appeal filed by the CBN on an order granted in 2012 by a Federal High Court in Lagos instructing the apex bank to make public the total cash and properties recovered from Cecilia Ibru.



The Federal High court had at the time, also ordered the CBN to disclose the whereabouts of the money and property recovered from Mrs Ibru and also disclose what part of this cash and properties have been returned to Oceanic bank and its shareholders. The court gave the order in a suit filed by a Lagos lawyer, Chuks Nwachkwu on behalf of a shareholder of Oceanic Bank, Boniface Okezie, urging the court to compel CBN to make disclosure of the following:

1 (a) The cost of Central Bank of Nigeria and the Government of the people of Nigeria so far of the banking reforms instituted by the Central Bank and particularly,
(b) The amount of legal fees paid and to be paid to professionals and professional bodies,
(c) How much or the amount in (a) above represents fees paid and to be paid to the firms of 1 Olanihun Ajayi LP of Adunola, Plot 12, 401 Close Banana Island Ikoyi, Lagos.

(d) What is the total sum paid to the firm of Olaniwun Ajayi in respect of prosecution of Cecilia Ibru, former Managing Director of Oceanic Bank Plc, and how much of this sum was in the form of commission on the property recovered from her.
(e) The total cash and value of properties recovered from Cecilia Ibru.
(f) The whereabouts of the money and properties recovered.
(g) What part of this cash and properties has been returned to Oceanic Bank and/or its shareholders. Okezie in his court papers, argued that in view of the fact that CBN is a public body and an agency of the institution of the Federal Government of Nigeria created by law, it is bound under the Freedom of Information Act 2011 to make available to him the information requested for by him.

The apex bank however failed to grant his request despite acknowledging the receipt of his letter. Mr Okezie stated that he had heard of rumors that the Governor of Central Bank and his associates have either embezzled, misappropriated or otherwise dissipated the funds running into hundreds of billions of Naira recovered from Cecilia Ibru and cannot render account for them. Counsel to CBN in his submission to the court, said although they received Okezie's letter, the information Okezie requested for if released, would go against their contract terms with their lawyers. On the 2nd of October, 2012,the presiding Judge Mohammed Idris, in his judgment refused to grant reliefs

1(a),(b) (c) and (d) whilst reliefs (e),(f) and (g) were granted. The CBN and Okezie filed separate appeals regarding the judgement. Yesterday, the Court of Appeal led by Justice Biobele Abraham George, upheld the order of the Federal High Court and ordered that CBN accounts for the cash and properties recovered from Mrs Ibru as requested by Okezie.

In 2009, Cecilia Ibru was among the 5 bank CEOs sacked by then CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. On October 9th 2010, a Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced her to 18 months in prison under a plea bargain agreement after she pleaded guilty to three-count charge bordering on negligence, reckless grant of credit facilities and mismanagement of depositors’ funds.
